Human hands have the power to create beauty, but sometimes the loveliest things around us are from the natural world. Take the delicately detailed paper kite butterflies, as an example. Though their name speaks to the man-made, these exquisite creatures flit up, up and around, thanks to Mother Nature alone. To witness the wonder of them in flight, and to create your own kite to send soaring, visit the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House at Faust Park (15193 Olive Boulevard, Chesterfield; 636-530-0076 or www.butterflyhouse.org) during the Paper Kite Butterfly Festival. Running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for four Saturdays (August 23 through September 13), this butterfly-focused bash features plenty of the pretties flying about, as well as activities for the kids. Admission to the Butterfly House costs $4 to $6, and festival admission is included.
Saturdays, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Starts: Aug. 23. Continues through Sept. 13, 2014
