The Riverfront Times' eatstravaganza Iron Fork is a bit like the RFT itself, a true smorgasbord of all things St. Louis. But instead of featuring stories pertinent to you and this rough-and-tumble place we lovingly call home, the food throwdown offers up nibbles and bites from more than 30 local restaurants. The Shaved Duck and Milagro Modern Mexican will sample out their varied specialties, as will the Bleeding Deacon Public House, Serendipity Homemade Ice Cream, Yummies Soul Food Café and other faves. It will be a grand party indeed! Plus, the chef competition — complete with a secret ingredient — will provide some live entertainment, as will the bartender contest. And even the RFTers themselves have been known to put on a bit of a show, albeit a somewhat drunken, off-key karaoke kind of a show (that's writers for you). Iron Fork happens from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the St. Louis Union Station Marriott (1820 Market Street); two tickets cost $35 in advance, and a portion of the proceeds benefits the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
