There's always hand-wringing over the loss of the arts in our school systems, but consider this: If you're a high schooler who dreams of a career in medicine, do you have an outlet for your passion now? No. But if you're a teen artist, you can make art in your own bedroom. Heck, you can even enter your work in competitions like the Young Artists Showcase and demonstrate to the world just how good you already are. The St. Louis Artists' Guild (2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton; 314-727-9599 or www.stlouisartistsguild.org) sponsors this annual exhibit, which features works in all media by area students ages fifteen to nineteen. The Young Artists Showcase opens with a free public reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, and the show remains up through Saturday, May 3. Stop by and see what the kids have been up to — you may be surprised.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: March 16. Continues through May 3, 2008
