Fried Chicken

Hodak's

The folks at Hodak's must have known what Springfield, Mo. band the Morells were talking about when they were singing (about another eatery), "the only thing French on the menu is fried." Whether you order oysters, catfish, frog legs or shrimp, Hodak's knows how to fry it to perfection. But Hodak's true menu masterpiece is their fried chicken. The pieces are large and meaty, and the breading is light, crispy and not too greasy. It's comfort food at its finest. Hodak's reputation for fried chicken makes the place popular enough that there might be a line when you get there, but the service is lickity-split, and the price is right. You just can't beat Hodak's, and neither could their competition in this category.
