From Iceland, With Joy

Brandon Anschultz’s Stick Around for Joy is a site-specific installation created expressly for the estate house that now serves as Laumeier Sculpture Park’s indoor galleries(12580 Rott Road, Sunset Hills; 314-615-5278 or www.laumeier.org). With a title inspired partly by the Sugarcubes’ 1992 album and partly by the “slightly evasive optimism” Anschultz admits is present in his work, the installation is the artist’s largest sculpture yet -- indeed, it expands beyond the confines of the galleries and into the outdoor space as well. Stick Around for Joy opens with a free public reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Laumeier Sculpture Park. The work remains on display through Sunday, September 26, and the gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: June 11. Continues through Sept. 26, 2010
