From St. Louis to Paris

For some of us, the idea of standing on a stage — with the lights (and the pressure) beaming down — is nearly too terrifying to ponder. Linda Kennedy is different from us, though. And she proves her prowess when she presents If an Orchid Could Sizzle, the first installment in the Black Rep's "I Stand Alone" theater series. The "I Stand Alone" shows are original works performed by one, or two, people, who get only the fifteen-minute intermission as a break. Tough stuff. If an Orchid Could Sizzle is about another courageous performer, Josephine Baker — no word yet on whether Kennedy will don a banana skirt (now that would be beyond brave).
