Anything Goes is a good old-fashioned musical that involves love at first sight, ocean liner stowaways, an engagement that's more about business than love, below-decks strip poker and a lovable rogue who has assumed another passenger's identity -- and that passenger happens to be Public Enemy No. 1. Yes, James Cameron strip-mined it to make a plot for Titanic, but he forgot to bring the songs with him. That's a shame, because Cole Porter outdid himself when he wrote the tunes for Anything Goes. "You're the Top," "I Get A Kick Out of You" and the title track are stone classics, and Porter hits "Friendship" and "It's De-Lovely" have been retroactively added to the musical with no ill effects. The 2011 revival of the show is currently touring the country, and it hits the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1678 or www.fabulousfox.com) this month. Performances take place Tuesday through Sunday (May 28 through June 9), and tickets are $15 to $64.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 28. Continues through June 9, 2013
