Get in the Groove

In the 1960s change was in the air. Civil unrest loomed, fashions hippified, music evolved — and St. Louis' Craft Alliance was founded. Now, 45 years later, it's time to celebrate the craft studio and the good work it has done teaching people of all ages everything from pot-throwing to fiber arts, and from jewelry-making to woodturning and more, by taking it all back to the beginning. The Artrageous Pot Party at Sol Lounge (4239 Lindell Boulevard) encourages a dress code of '60s chic — we're talkin' bell bottoms, peace signs and the like — and it features pot-throwing demonstrations (what kind of pot party did you think this was?), eats from Wild Flower, groovy '60s tunes and silent and live auctions. This fundraiser for Craft Alliance runs from 6 p.m. to midnight, and tickets start at $75. Learn more about the far-out night and buy tickets by visiting www.craftalliance.org.
