Get on yer Bike

The Gateway Cross Cup isn't your typical bicycle race. This is no scenic tour through natural beauty with limited access to spectators like that thing they do in France, this is cyclocross, which combines the speed of street racing with the punishing, uneven terrain (plus man-made obstacles) of mountain biking on a mile long course that affords a great view for spectators. Join a crowd of thousands in Heman Park (7200 Olive Boulevard, University City; www.gatewaycrosscup.com) for two days of races, expos and entertainment featuring top competitors from the U.S. and Europe. Races are scheduled from 12:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday (October 26 and 27). Admission is free.
