Get Tough

As faithful readers know, Ms. Day is a lady first and foremost. She appreciates the finer things in life, such as tea parties, the symphony and quiet afternoons spent reading. But sometimes all of the daintiness, well, it just gets to her, and instead of being demure, she wants to scream and shout and get tattoos and act wild! When those moments hit, Day knows it's time to head to the roller derby. The ladies who make up the Arch Rival Roller Girls roller-derby team sure are tough! And fun to watch, too! And this weekend, there'll be even more toughness to go around as ARRG hosts teams from Kansas City, Philadelphia and Detroit for the ARRGageddon Invitational. Three bouts happen each day of the event; the bone-breaking gets started at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 11 a.m. on Sunday (August 14 and 15). Tickets are $15 per day or $25 for a two-day pass. The tournament is held at the All American Sports Mall (11133 Lindbergh Business Court, Affton); learn more at
