Thanks to the Reel Late series at the Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-995-6270 or, we can all renew our fears of the typewritten page, big-wheelin’ and hedge mazes when The Shining is screened this weekend. OK, so maybe typewriters and their work aren’t scary in and of themselves, but the dread you feel after watching that scene could last a lifetime. If you haven’t seen this film, watching it on the big screen should do a number on you, and if you’re a devoted fan, you can’t miss an opportunity to take it up a notch. The Tivoli screens The Shining at midnight on Friday and Saturday and at 10 p.m. on Sunday (August 31 through September 2). Admission costs $6.50.
