Relive the magic and madness of achieving Motown success in the early 1960s with Dreamgirls, the hit broadway musical inspired by the stories of R&B acts like the Supremes, the Shirelles, James Brown and Jackie Wilson. The Tony Award-winning show charts the career of fictional female singing trio the Dreamettes (later known as the Dreams and then Deena Jones and the Dreams) from the group's humble, rough-and-tumble start as backup singers in Chicago, Illinois, to wildly successful national stars -- and the strain it puts on their families, friendships and future careers. Dreamgirls premieres Monday, July 16, at 8:15 p.m. and runs through Sunday, July 22, at the Muny in Forest Park (One Theatre Drive; 314-361-1900). Ticket prices range from $10 to $70, with open, free seating available in the last nine rows on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit www.muny.org.
