Go Pug Yourself

What is it about pugs that makes them so darn precious, so irresistibly adorable? Is it the wee wrinkly faces? The attentive head-tilting? The scampering, the bounding, the happy snuffling? Whatever the appeal is, pugs have it in spades, which explains their popularity (and their infrequent Dog Whisperer appearances — 'cause pugs know how to act right, son). Not every pug has found the right person, though, which is why the second annual Southeast Pug Rescue & Adoption, Inc. (SEPRA) Fundraiser Dinner is so important. Dine at the Delmar Restaurant & Lounge (6235 Delmar Boulevard) tonight between 5 and 11 p.m., and 20 percent of the food-and-beverage sales goes to SEPRA. That's right: All you have to do is enjoy the Delmar's delicious food (and perhaps something from the wine or martini list), and pugs and pug mixes reap the benefits. There's no cover charge for this fundraiser. You can make a reservation (although doing so is not required) by calling 314-725-6565; to learn more about SEPRA, visit www.rescuepug.com.
