There are certain cultural touchstones that we've all agreed are part of the human experience (whether we like them or not), and familiarity with them enables us to get around in casual conversations. No one wants to be the guy who asks "Why is Lennie Briscoe in Dirty Dancing?" or "What is a Kardashian? Is it similar to a Galifianakis?" or, "Am I the only one who's never heard of any of this stuff in this MTV/VH1 top whatever of this decade countdown list?" The Goonies is one such important touchstone. This Steven Spielberg mid-'80s masterpiece is PG-gold, and if you still haven't seen it, try to blend in with the film's fans at Ballpark Village (323 South Broadway; this Movie Monday, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m. Your own blanket is welcome, but outside food and drinks aren't; admission costs just $1, a small price to pay for gaining some culture cred.
