Happy Xmas

(War is onscreen)

The message of Christmas has evolved over time into terms that the children of the day can comprehend. Where once we celebrated the birth of Jesus, we now find ourselves witnessing televised battles of good vs. evil, where good (signified by Christmas, Santa and presents) wins out over those trying to squelch the joyful holiday spirit. And rightly so. After all, in "The Grinch vs. Whoville," "Rudolph vs. the Abominable Snow Monster" and even "Kris Kringle vs. the Burgermeister," what would Christmas have been like if the Whos, Rudolph and Kris hadn't prevailed? Yes, it is a scary thought. So celebrate Christmas with an additional lesson on friendship and giving in the animated Santa vs. the Snowman, showing at the OMNIMAX Theater at the Saint Louis Science Center (5050 Oakland Avenue). Be prepared for polar battle scenes as Santa and the Snowman duke it out to rule Christmas, but be assured that good will eventually reign triumphant. The final showtimes are at noon Thursday through Sunday (December 21 through 24), and tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for kids and seniors.
