Haunted Library

Read all about it

The written word can be a powerful thing. Read a scary book, and you're right there with the protagonist, fighting the demon or slaying the vampire or vanquishing the ghost or whatever — it's terrifying business. But libraries can be scary, too. To see for yourself, head over to the Central branch of the St. Louis Public Library (1301 Olive Street; 314-340-2403 or www.slplfoundation.org) for the Friday Night Fright, an event hosted by the Young Literati. This evening soiree begins at 7 p.m. and includes drinks, snacks, tours, a book-signing with local author Angie Fox, pictured (The Accidental Demon Slayer), live music and even a scavenger hunt through the library! The grand building is 100 years old — we bet those walls could (and do!) tell some stories! Having a spooky good time (and supporting your downtown library) costs $20, but if you join the Young Literati friends group tonight, your ticket is free!
