Anyone who has read Found Magazine or listened to an episode of This American Life knows Davy Rothbart is a sweetheart, plain and simple, and that he has a gift for translating his obsessive passion for the absurd and the banal into heartwarming stories. But what toll does his nomadic lifestyle take on his own heart? Filmmaker David Meiklejohn followed Rothbart for two years and through 100 cities on his quest for love. In My Heart Is An Idiot, we watch as Rothbart asks various celebrities (Ira Glass, Zooey Deschanel) for romantic advice and then tries to follow it with his usual combination of passion and humor. Meiklejohn and Rothbart bring the film to Mad Art Gallery (2727 South Twelfth Street; 314-771-8230 or for a screening and discussion at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.
