Heat of the Night

Life sure is sweet

Smell that? No, the mysterious odor isn't back! You can safely unplug your nose now because that horrific scent seems to have been replaced by a certain sweetness (thank heavens). Sniff, sniff — perhaps a hint of rose petals and a whisper of chocolate? Yes, that must the correct combination, for today is Valentine's Day, the most enchanting, flowery, chocolaty day of the year! Not only is romance in the air, but it is also on fire at the Third Degree Glass Factory (5200 Delmar Boulevard). During the free Hearts on Fire Passion Party held there from 6 to 10 p.m., lovers can look on as glass art is created by international masters of the medium, browse for loverly, artful pressies, and share sips of drinks from the cash bar. Plus, if couples dine out at a Saint Louis Originals restaurant before igniting the passion at the glass factory — see for locations — they can make a glass keepsake from the night for free! To learn more about the lovefest, call Third Degree at 314-367-4527 or visit (And if your romantic night out needs a sequel, Third Degree hosts another free, open-house event on Friday, February 20.)
