Hermann's Germans Party Mardi Hardy

We apologize for the above headline

While Soulard's denizens get fried to the French standard, residents in Hermann, Missouri, raise their beer steins high to a hardy Mardi party of their own. Fasching is the German take on the pre-Lenten carnival season, and this Saturday the Hermannhof Festhalle (237 East First Street, Hermann) hosts a traditional Fasching Ball complete with barnstorming contra dancing, fine wine and an epic feast up to the demands of the fest. Guests are encouraged to dress in costume (something Old World and classy), but costumes are not required. And please be aware that contra line dancing requires zero dance experience, so leave those inhibitions at home. The Fasching Ball runs from 6 to 10 p.m.; tickets are $28 and may be purchased in advance. For details, call 573-486-3276 visit www.hermannfarm.org.
