The Pazinskis, the Polish-Catholic family who live upstairs from their family-run tavern, are facing a year of great personal changes. Older brother Eddie is a rebellious teen champing at the bit to get out in the world and start his own life, his sister Annie has reached the age when she wants more than anything for the boys to notice her, and their developmentally disabled brother Georgie remains eternally childlike. And then there’s Rudy, the would-be comic who’s being prepped for his Confirmation by the ruler-wielding Sister Clarissa; his personal studies take the form of imagining -- and acting out -- what it would be like if Jesus Christ were a guest on the Ed Sullivan Show. Tom Dudzick’s comedy Over the Tavern offers a nostalgic look back at the late ’50s, with a touch of bitter to go with all the sweetness. The Repertory Theatre of Saint Louis presents Over the Tavern on the Browning Mainstage in the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road; 314-968-4925 or www.repstl.org) Tuesday through Sunday (December 1 through 26; no shows on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day).
