Ice, Ice Baby

Cooling out in the Loop

Ms. Day speaks from experience when she reports that s'mores taste even more delicious now than they did years ago. She's not sure if the components have somehow magically improved through the ages or if she just has a greater appreciation of the ooey-gooey, crunchy, sweet treats, but damn! S'more s'mores, please! Rest assured, Day will snack on as many of these yummy dessert sandwiches as she can at the Loop Ice Carnival, happening all day today along Delmar Boulevard on both sides of Skinker Boulevard. The s'more portion of the fest happens from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Craft Alliance, but other fun activities will keep her busy from morning until night. There are the 5K and 10K Frozen Buns Runs at 10 a.m. ($30;, she can meet Frosty the Snowman from noon to 3 p.m. at the trolley, she will lift a glass and rejoice with the winner of the mustache contest at 5 p.m. at Pin-Up Bowl, and she can hit the links from noon to 6 p.m. during the free Putt Putt Pub Crawl, beginning at Cicero's. Plus, free movies screen at the Tivoli Theatre at 11:30 a.m., bands play and much more! For more information about the cold-weather carnival, check out
