It's Infectious

South County is doomed. Terror experts predict that by Friday, the Holiday Inn South County Center (6921 South Lindbergh Boulevard; www.con-tamination.com) will be at Defcon 4 -- but only because it's time once again for Contamination, the horror and pop culture convention. Contamination: Defcon 4 features more celebrities, more memorabilia dealers and more horror than ever before, spread across three days: 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (August 2 through 4). Do you want to meet David Naughton of An American Werewolf in London? He's gonna be there, as are Priscilla Barnes of The Devil's Rejects, and the ladies of the original Evil Dead (Besty Baker, Ellen Sandweiss and Theresa Tilly). The 24-Hour Grindhouse Cinema is back as well, so prepare your eyeballs. This one's so big, rock legend Ace Frehley had to come out to see it for himself. Frehley will be signing autographs ($30 to $500 per item) all weekend, and a Pagan KISS Tiki Party will be held in his honor Friday night from 9 to 11:30 p.m. Admission to the con is $5 to $25 per day, or $45 for the weekend pass. VIP admission is $125.
