It's Just A Little Brush

Artists seem like a whole different breed of folks, what with their berets and fancy cigarettes and everything. Even though you feel creative from time to time, you just don't think you're cool enough to be an artist — and hats look terrible on you anyway. Fortunately for you, the Saint Louis City Open Studio & Gallery (314-865-0060 or hosts a fundraising event where everyone who wants to be an artist is an artist if only just for the night. Paint by Numbers is held at the Mad Art Gallery (2727 South 12th Street) — it sounds artsy already! — and throughout the evening attendees get to take up brushes and contribute colors to the largest paint-by-numbers mural in the state. After the painting is complete, it will remain on view in the event/gallery space until the end of the month. It'll be your first real exhibition (sort of, but we don't need to get bogged down with the details)! Get your paint on from 6 to 11 p.m. for $5 (children twelve and younger get in for $3), and all proceeds benefit SCOSAG and help the organization continue to fulfill its mission of bringing out the artist in kids throughout St. Louis.
