Music, like fashion, is ever-evolving. For proof, think about what your favorite summer songs were five years ago, and remember what you were wearing as you drove around listening to them. That mental image seems a bit dated now, doesn't it? And you still have some of those pieces in your closet! To be inspired to update both your wardrobe and your downloads, don't miss Pins & Needles: An Alternative Fashion Show Dedicated to Rock & Roll, happening this evening. Seeing as how the music scene and its confident, sexy, gyrating musicians have influenced style for decades, this show ought to, well, rock! Fashions sent down the runway will come from local designers, including TrashBiscuit and Jennifer Neal, and via Chicago, thanks to Evil Kitty and others. Pins & Needles is held at 3141 Locust Street at the REO Lofts building; doors open for cocktails and mingling at 6 p.m., and the runway action begins at 8 p.m. Admission costs $20 (visit www.pinsandneedles2010.eventbrite.com) — and note that new threads and tunes will probably cost a bit more.
