Jaw-Dropping and Awe-Inspiring

Wow. Just wow.

Trying out for the Stars of the Peking Acrobats would be so difficult. First off, the judges are bound to ask hopefuls to do a backbend on the spot, and most folks would be cut right then. And even if they could complete the demonstration of flexibility, they certainly wouldn't be able to do so while perched on top of other acrobats! And what about unicycle-riding? Most people have trouble balancing on a bike with two wheels, let alone peddling around with a bunch of other people on the bike! And handstands? Difficult. Atop precariously stacked benches? Impossible? No. All of these feats may seem impossible, but the Stars of the Peking Acrobats can perform these amazing acts and more. Buy your ticket now to have your mind blown at the newly refurbished Founders' Theatre at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; www.cocastl.org) when the Chinese troupe takes the stage at 7 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday (October 10 through 12). Tickets cost $14 to $18 (at 314-534-1111 or www.metrotix.com).
