Born Jemina Abegg, 22-year-old Jemina Pearl has checked quite a few things off her bucket list already. Form a skuzzy punk band called Be Your Own Pet? Check. Get said band hooked up with Sonic Youth maestro Thurston Moore and subsequently end up on both his label, Ecsatic Peace, and Universal Records, part of the biggest media company in the world? Double check! Appear on Gossip Girl — while covering a Ramones song with Moore, no less? Easy as pie. Tour the world to critical acclaim but then end your band well before its expiration date, mainly because you didn't want to play Warped Tour? (Well, that was a dumb decision, but she can still cross it off.) Now Pearl's treading the waters of a solo career and checking other things off her list — like dueting with Iggy Pop, as she does on the song "I Hate People" from her debut LP, Break It Up.
