There's been a lot of hoopla recently about a certain author from Webster Groves and his topnotch writing capacities. But, you know, he's not the only one around these parts earning accolades. Matt Kindt, writer/artist/graphic novelist (, has been named Best Local Cartoonist by this very paper not once, but twice, first in 2008 and also this year. In addition to that swell recognition, Kindt won a Harvey Award and has earned several other national prize nominations, along with much acclaim across the country. Sure, Kindt is fabulous and super busy drawing and writing and producing seemingly constantly, but for you, our local talent will take a break and greet fans at the Schlafly branch of the St. Louis Public Library (225 North Euclid Avenue; 314-367-4120) at 7 p.m. this evening. His latest graphic novel, Revolver, is the focus of the event. In this work, which just came out this summer, Sam is living in a world where bad news follows bad news...or does it? Is the real world bleak and apocalyptic, or is he just imagining it to be? What's real anyway? If you haven't picked up a copy yet, swing by Left Bank Books to get your hands on Revolver ($24.99) and some of Kindt's other works while you're at it; books also will be for sale at the event. Admission is free.
