Ladies Night

This woman's work is never done

The Orange Girls theatre company is between shows right now, but that doesn’t mean the ladies are ignoring your entertainment needs. At 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (July 17 to 19), the Orange Girls present Nothing Like A Dame, a cabaret show that celebrates in song the highs and lows of being a woman. The show’s also a fundraiser for the company, which means by attending one of the three performance, you’re helping to ensure the Orange Girls will be able to entertain you again in the near future – say in the middle of September, with a production of Wajdi Mouawad’s Scorched (go ahead and mark your calendar now). Performers at Nothing Like A Dame include Michelle Burdett Elmore, Marlissa Hudson, Deborah Sharn as well as Orange Girls co-founders Brooke Edwards and Meghan Maguire, and all shows take place at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-520-9557 or www.orangegirls.org). Tickets are $40 for general admission, or $60 for cabaret-style seating. A post-performance reception with the cast takes place all three nights, as does a blind auction of items used in past Orange Girls productions.
