Large and in Charge

News flash: Sumo wrestlers aren’t just for shoving other large, sweaty folks out of a circle you’ve drawn in the middle of a room. We’ll have you know that they are also witty conversationalists and excellent chefs. See for yourself this evening as the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Young Friends present Sumo, Sake and Sushi, a party that features sumo supa-stars Koryu and Sunahama cooking sumo food, chatting about sumo things and maybe giving you piggyback rides (OK, we made that last part up). There will also be sushi and drinks and general good cheer. This Young Friends event runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the garden’s Kemper Center (4344 Shaw Boulevard;, and you should RSVP in advance by calling 314-577-5154. Tickets are $65 a person, but only $50 if you’re a garden member.
