Last Night! First Night!

Ringing in the New Year by downing a flute of Champagne is tradition, but it's not the only way to celebrate buying a new calendar. Since 1991, First Night St. Louis has offered an alcohol-free, arts-focused alternative to New Year's Eve debauchery. This year's theme, "A Traveling Circus," transforms Grand Center (North Grand and Lindell boulevards) into a big top, boasting 60 performances at more than twelve locations, including feats of strength and skill by acrobats, jugglers and jokers. This kid-friendly fest kicks off at 6 p.m. and runs till midnight, when a fireworks display will glow brilliant over Grand Center. Admission buttons to First Night cost $6 to $12.
