Shakespeare's King Lear is a daunting piece of work for both actors and audiences. What are you to make of Lear's capricious behavior toward his daughters, and their own strange rejection of him? What's the deal with that sudden storm that makes him crazy? What exactly is the Fool saying? Susanna Hamnett dives into that maelstrom alone in her show Nearly Lear. Hamnett creates her version of the play through storytelling, music and film, all in service of Shakespeare's text. She performs Nearly Lear at 5 pm. today at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-561-4877 or www.cocastl.org). Tickets are $14 to $18.
