Lights Up in the Gallery

The Foundry Art Centre (520 North Main Center, St. Charles; 636-255-0270 or www.foundryartcenter.org) gives over three of its galleries to explore the current state of painting in America in the new exhibition, Luminous Language. True to the show's title, many of the works seem to glow from within, whether they are photorealistic representations of the man-made world (Stacey McAdams' Route 66: Auto Seat Covers for example, a portrait of a vintage sign) or the natural world; Rebecca Fogg's dazzling Fluid Dynamics captures the interplay of sunlight on the pulsating surface of a pool of water that looks real enough to dive into. Luminous Language opens on Friday, March 29; there's a free artists reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday, and the work remains on display through Friday, May 10.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: March 29. Continues through May 10, 2013
