Time for the good stuff

When a theater company brings a show back once, you know it’s good. But when that same production enjoys several revivals, it’s obvious that it’s a can’t-miss performance. Such is the case with the Black Rep’s Tell Me Somethin’ Good, which opens the company’s 32nd season. The revue -- which was conceived by Ron Himes, the founder and producing director of the Black Rep -- takes the audience on a gallivanting tour through the history of R&B music. With more than 60 songs included, this thorough show covers everything from the 1950s to hip-hop, and you can join the journey at the Grandel Theatre (3610 Grandel Square) Thursday through Sunday (January 8 through February 8). Showtimes vary, and tickets cost $17 to $43 (at 314-534-1111 or To learn more about the revue, call 314-534-3810 or visit
