Local Motion: The Daybreak Boys

With song titles such as "Gonna Get Pissed Tonight" and a sleek dance-punk sound a few steps removed from the Killers or the Strokes, one would be forgiven for mistaking the Daybreak Boys for the hippest new band hailing from Brooklyn or LA. But this up-and-coming trio — Ryan Sears, Steve Factor and Kevin Bowers — are based in St. Charles and are playing their very first gig this night. Not that this inexperience hurts the Daybreak Boys' self-confidence; with self-assured vocals swaggering like glam-rock's iconic figures and wriggling bass lines made for late-night dance parties, this group is certainly one to watch.
