Local Motion: The Domani International

Wednesday, March 1 at 9 p.m. at Off Broadway (3509 Lemp Avenue)

Don't look now, but St. Louis is experiencing quite the indie-pop resurgence — thanks in part to the Domani International. Vocalist Josh Brett (a veteran of area bands such as Simple Mary's Diary) specializes in breathless, impassioned enunciation that conjures Greg Dulli (a self-avowed idol). But songs from the DI's debut EP, This Is_The Domani International, would be setting the hipster blogs abuzz if the group hailed from NYC. Shades of Ambulance Ltd. and Doves abound, in the form of sparkling-ice keyboard grooves, Britpoppin' guitars and hooks galore.
