Lords and the Lady

When Ms. Day first found out that the Suspicious Cheese Lords were coming to town, she was, well, suspicious. If these men were really the lords of cheese, why hadn’t Lady Day, knower of all things cheese-related, heard of them before? And were these just suspicious folks who happened to also lord over some cheese? Or were they simply lords of suspect cheese, that is, cheese that had grown old and moldy? (Which is terrible, by the way; cheese should be enjoyed early and often.) You can imagine Ms. Day’s relief/sadness when she learned that the Suspicious Cheese Lords is a Washington, D.C.-based a cappella group that gets its name from Suscipe quæso Domine, a motet by Thomas Tallis. And while the performers won’t be serving happiness from the dairy case, the all-male ensemble will be singing songs from the Middle Ages and beyond.
