Leos Carax's film Mauvais sang (also known as Bad Blood and The Night Is Young) was released in 1986 but never officially made it to American theaters. Carax was a young man when he directed it, and Mauvais sang overflows with the passions of youth. Hans (Hans Meyer) and Marc (Michel Piccoli) are old gangsters who need to repay a debt. They plan to settle by stealing and handing over the newly developed vaccine for the SBTO virus, which only affects those who have loveless sex. Their preferred thief has recently died, so the duo hire his son, Alex (Denis Lavant). Alex sees this job as a one-shot that will allow him to start a new life, but he gets stuck in deeper than he intended once he meets Marc's mistress, Anna (Juliette Binoche). The stylish and romantic Mauvais sang plays at 1 p.m. today at the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park (314-534-1111 or www.cinemastlouis.org) as part of Cinema St. Louis' Classic French Film Festival. Tickets are $10 to $12.
