Last year Mr. Night made an alcohol-inspired oath that when the weather got nice, he was gonna be a kilt-wearin' man. A hater of shorts, Night thought the kilt seemed a nice option for the stifling horse-blanket humidity of Missouri. And after all the work he's had done on his legs (collagen injections to flesh out his knobby knees), it would be a shame to not show off his getaway sticks — you know, for the ladies' sakes. This weekend the oath is fulfilled at Missouri Tartan Days. Starting at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday (March 31 and April 1) at Frontier Park (South Main Street and First Capitol Drive, St. Charles; www.motartanday.com), Tartan Days celebrates all things Scottish with live music (Duddybreeks, Mother Grove, Barleyjuice), athletics (Highland games), martial arts (Claymore- and dirk-style, courtesy of the Sons of Alba Sword Company), and all the plaid-y laddies and classy lassies you could ever hope to meet. Admission is free, concessions are available, and if you're not Scottish, fake it for two days — no one will really mind the deception.
