The Modern American Dance Company (or MADCO), the company in residence at the University of Missouri-St. Louis' Touhill Performing Arts Center (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road), has chosen an apt name for its upcoming concerts. Momentum describes not only what will be showcased onstage, but also what's happening with the troupe itself. A prominent entity on the St. Louis dance scene, MADCO strives to present innovative dance for St. Louis audiences, and that effort gains energy this weekend with pieces including Gina Patterson's visually stunning, beautifully memorable Second Line and Joseph Mills' Circle Walker, which features movement with a huge gyroscope/jungle-gym-type of apparatus. Performances are held at 8 p.m. Friday, and at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday (March 22 and 23); tickets cost $10 to $25 and are available for purchase by calling 314-516-4949 or visiting
