Malleable and Chatty

Every object, no matter how simple or quaint, has a story to share -- from that cheap, mass-produced necklace you picked up at a boutique on vacation to the wayward plastic Walgreens bag riding the wind until it's speared by a tree branch. The pieces in the latest exhibit from Craft Alliance (6640 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-725-1177 or www.craftalliance.org) act as manuscripts for their storyteller metalsmiths, a blank slate to carry a message or moral. Experience the myriad chronicles at Metal Speaks: The Art of the Narrative. The free exhibit opens Friday, May 4. with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. and remains on display Tuesday through Sunday until June 17.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 4. Continues through June 17, 2012
