Martin, Mosaic and More

The Christopher Martin whose show opens Thursday, November 1, at the Kodner Gallery (9650 Clayton Road, Ladue; 314-993-4477 or www.kodnergallery.com) did not rise to fame singing the Coldplay hits “Yellow” and “Clocks”; this Dallas-based artist is instead known for his luminous abstract works, which employ a self-taught method of painting acrylic on sheets of acrylic in a layered reverse order. More than 2,000 of his paintings hang across the United States, Mexico and Europe in hotels such as the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas and in corporate offices (including those of Starbucks and Anheuser-Busch). Martin will be on hand from 6 to 9 p.m. for the opening reception of Mosaic, a new exhibit featuring his signature style. During the reception, Petals of Paw-sabilities -- a collaborative piece by Martin and children from Ranken Jordan Pediatric Hospital -- will be auctioned off to raise money for the Kodner Gallery Art Therapy Program. Admittance is free for the reception as well as for the exhibit on display through Saturday, December 1. The Kodner Gallery is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: Nov. 1. Continues through Dec. 1, 2007
