Metrotix Electronic Music Showcase

The Electronic Music Showcase was created by local DJs for local DJs. Although the name of the monthly carouse could be more imaginative, don't let its banality fool you. The fourth installment, which takes place Saturday, promises to be fiery: Party founders SF & Edgar and Mark Churchill are stepping down from the decks to make way for Alexis Tucci, Mike D and DJ Nitro (pictured). Tucci, of Hot House Sessions fame, starts the night off right in Velvet's main room, working her brand of funky house. Taking you deeper into the house vortex, Mike D -- a regular at Rue 13 and the Upstairs Lounge -- makes his ten-plus years' experience pay off in the form of nonstop pulsating and palpitating. And yes, Nitro's back from KC to make you boogie until the wee hours; a trip to the East Side later seems virtually inevitable.

If you're not into the lights and excitement of the main room, DJ Ortgeist, Proppapapa and Lance Kaden are spinning in the Havana Lounge (Velvet's front room), a prime opportunity for you to cool out and groove to some warm house. Proppapapa has already graced the Velvet decks and shown his skills. Now he's joined by Ortgeist and Kaden, who favor pumping beats and jazzy house.

This party's not only hot, it's free. Just go to www.metrotix.com, and find out how to get your tickets. We don't need no out-of-town sucka DJs: We've got the real deal right here.
