Microfest: Macrofun

Rally all of your best taste buds together because St. Louis Microfest is back and it promises to deliver macro good times Friday and Saturday (May 1 and 2)! This fundraiser for Lift for Life Gym celebrates all things beer and kicks off this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Upper Muny parking lot in Forest Park with a focus on "International Beer and Cuisine". Friday's $20 ticket entitles you to sample more than 50 beers, live music and access to the demo tent's cooking presentation. Saturday afternoon's session (noon to 5 p.m., $22 to $25) puts American craft beers in the spotlight and delivers a keg-hefting strongman competition, the "Brewer Olympics" and a local homebrew contest. Finally, the Saturday evening session (6 to 9 p.m., $18 to $20 ) wraps things up with "the Big Barbie", a beer and barbecue extravaganza. For a reduced fee, kids and designated drivers can join in the fun with a commemorative soda sampling glass - and bring the dog along to visit the "Yappy Hour Lounge" where your pooch can sample a single variety of water (no tasting glass required!). Visit www.stlmicrofest.org or call 314-436-2337 for all of the details.
