Mike Shannon's Grill

Mike Shannon and fam bring a vintage athletic-club vibe to the metro east. Located on the wooded banks of Plum Creek, Mike Shannon’s Grill provides residents of Edwardsville and beyond with a clubby refuge, serving up classic American comfort food along with more upscale steak and seafood options. A pear-and-arugula salad is elevated by the inclusion of two goat cheese-wrapped prosciutto “purses.” The “BBBB” — a bison burger with bacon, barbecue sauce and blue cheese, served on brioche — is deliciously sweet and smoky, and wings offer the best of both worlds: dry-rubbed and spicily sauced. For your entrée, steer toward the more traditional steakhouse offerings; or, if you want to be like Mike, we’re told the roasted Amish chicken is his favorite dish. The bar area is impressive, featuring high ceilings, dark wood and leather booths — forgo the dining room and sit here if you have a choice.
