In considering certain people's aversion to Christmas music, it's important to remember the context in which those sleigh-bell-filled carols are heard. Who wouldn't go a little bonkers hearing "Jingle Bells" for the umpteenth time while waiting in line at a shopping mall? Far better, then, to experience the timeless songs of the holidays in one of the most beautiful places in the city. On Saturday and Sunday (December 12 and 13) the Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard) hosts Christmas Carols in the Garden, where choirs, brass ensembles and jazz bands will play the sounds of the season in the cozy (and heated!) confines of the Ridgeway Visitors Center and the Kemper Center for Home Gardening. The music runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and admission is included with the regular entrance fee ($3 to $8; children younger than twelve and members get in free).
