Old Germany, New Country 

If you're searching for a family-friendly fall festival that celebrates aspects of German life (other than the "aspect" that involves drinking out of a stein), look no further than the Luxenhaus Farm (18055 State Highway O). Located one hour west of St. Louis near Marthasville, this farm welcomes you to the Deutsch Country Days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (October 21 and 22). The authentic living-history festival showcases the German immigrant lifestyle in the 1800s through demonstrations of more than 80 skills by artisans in period attire. You'll be introduced to beekeepers, potters, wood-workers, a mule-powered sorghum press and a steam-powered sawmill. Come hungry to enjoy the delicious German fare including bratwursts and gherkins.
