On the GO!

Remember that list of new year’s resolutions you wholly committed to, uh, like three months ago? Most notably, there’s that one you made regarding your rear end. It was a heartfelt promise that you’d quit sitting on its rotund cheeks so often — especially in the early morning while watching all of the 6-a.m. joggers bopping through the misty neighborhood. The GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend presents a unique opportunity for you and your tush, as well as for your other inactive acquaintances. On Saturday, April 5, in lieu of the big marathon on Sunday, April 6, exercise abounds in Forest Park’s cricket field: At 7:30 a.m. the 5K run/walk begins ($30 entrance fee), and at 9:45 a.m. the younger set can get revved up for four races — from a Diaper Dash to a half-mile run — geared toward kids ages two to ten ($12 entrance fee). Then, the Mature Mile sets off at 10:15 a.m. for those 60 years old and older ($12 entrance fee). So much exercise! And you can bet your butt that all of the hard, sweat-producing work will net you a T-shirt, a medal/ribbon and some post-race grub! For more information about the weekend of fitness and how and where to cheer on marathon runners on Sunday, call 314-727-0800 or visit
