Once in a Lullaby

Every time we hear Judy Garland sweetly sing "Over the Rainbow" we get chills, not only because of the song's melancholy lyrics but also because of Garland's lovely, lovely voice. Indeed, her singing voice is lullaby-perfect, but there's even a sweet tonality present when she delivers her lines throughout The Wizard of Oz. Of course, Garland also is beloved, especially in our fair city, for her role in Meet Me in St. Louis (which likely furthers our collective, continued obsession with the 1904 World's Fair). Though this legendary talent passed away many moons ago, we'll all have the opportunity to hear her voice live again — as channeled through Tommy Femia in Judy Garland Live. This award-winning impersonator travels to St. Louie Louie via New York to perform as Garland at the Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard), and he'll be joined onstage by our own Harmonix from the Gateway Men's Chorus. Tickets to the show cost $45 and are available through MetroTix (314-534-1111 or www.metrotix.com). The concert begins at 8 p.m.
