Jesus Christ Superstar, the rock-opera-cum-theatrical-staple, has a lengthy history of casting actual rock stars in key roles: Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) and Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) have both played Jesus. But for many fans, Ted Neely's portrayal of the superstar in the film version (and the 1992 revival) is the definitive one. And lucky for them, Neely stars as Jesus one last time (?) in what's billed as the "Ted Neely Farewell Tour" of Jesus Christ Superstar, which graces the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1111 or www.fabulousfox.com) Friday through Sunday (February 1 through 3). Tickets are $26 to $60, and for that you also get Corey Glover, formerly of band Living Colour, as Judas. (There's your rock star, traditionalists.) Show times are 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.
