Party Till You're Horse

Our noble, stalwart friend the horse seems to be venerated everywhere around the world, China being no exception. And speaking of the Chinese, we are now in their Year of the Horse. In fact, we won't see the next equine year on the Chinese zodiac until 2026, so let's make the most of this current one. The Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw Boulevard; 314-577-5100 or www.mobot.org) celebrates the occasion with its eighteenth annual Chinese Culture Days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (May 17 and 18). For an admission charge of only $5 to $12 you'll be treated to a variety of Chinese art, music, martial-arts demonstrations, parades, food and cooking demos and more. Chinese Culture Days opens with a traditional parade starring a 70-foot-long dragon at 11 a.m. Saturday, and it's repeated at 2 p.m. Sunday.
